




At 06:32 Department 29 was dispatched by CC911 to assisted Department 2 with a motor vehicle accident with injuries and entrapment. Rescue 29-8 responded to the scene with a crew of six. Shortly after responding Rescue 29-8 advised CC911, 29C4 arrived on scene with one tractor- trailer completely blocking the roadway with a pick up truck underneath the trailer portion of the of the vehicle with heavy damage. At 06:42 Engine 2-22 arrived on scene and Chief 2 established the “Route 77 Command”.
At 06:43 Rescue 29-8 arrived on scene and the request was made for Department 16's Rescue/Engine. Rescue 29-8's crew performed hazard control and began to crib both the trailer along with the pick up truck. As both vehicles were secured extrication began. Engine 29-2 arrived on scene with a crew of four and also assisted with maintaining cribbing and completing extrication. Rescue 29-8 and Engine 29-2's crews during extrication popped the passenger door and removed the third door of the pick up. They also performed a roof removal along with cutting the passenger seat out of the vehicle and removing the center console, creating enough room for patient removal. Department 29 and 16's crews inflated air bags at the rear duals of the trailer for the purpose of securing the trailer, no lifting occurred using the air bags.
At 07:12 hours extrication was complete. The patient was conscious and alert for the entire rescue and was transported by 33 to Hamot Shock Trauma. All of the crews from 2, 16, 29, & 33 worked very well together to complete this successful rescue.
State Police Meadville handled the investigation & Hayden's Towing removed the vehicle.
